# Coding agents

> Install the FrogBot development skill for your coding agent, with local references or a hosted entry.

The FrogBot skill gives your coding agent framework instructions, examples, and task-specific references for building FrogBot applications.

## Install from GitHub

From your project directory, run:

```bash theme={"theme":"tokyo-night"}
npx skills add frogbotai/frogbot
```

Select the `frogbot` skill and the agents you use. Choose project scope to share the installation with your project. The recommended symlink installation keeps a canonical copy in `.agents/skills/frogbot` and links agent-specific directories, such as `.claude/skills/frogbot`, to it. Agents that read `.agents/skills` use that copy directly. Use `--copy` if you need independent copies instead of symlinks.

GitHub installation includes all 24 Markdown files: `SKILL.md` and 23 files in `reference/`. Prefer this route when you want the references available locally.

## Install as a Claude Code plugin

In a Claude Code session, first add the marketplace:

```text theme={"theme":"tokyo-night"}
/plugin marketplace add frogbotai/frogbot
```

Then install the plugin:

```text theme={"theme":"tokyo-night"}
/plugin install frogbot@frogbot
```

The plugin includes the same complete 24-file skill directory. Claude Code discovers it within the plugin; follow any reload instructions shown by the client.

## Include the skill in a new app

The [app installer](https://docs.frogbot.ai/getting-started/installation.md) asks which coding agents you use. Select any of the six supported agents, or leave the selection empty. To choose agents without prompts:

```bash theme={"theme":"tokyo-night"}
npx create-frogbot-app my-agent-platform --yes --agents claude,codex,cursor,opencode,copilot,gemini
```

Pass only the comma-separated targets you need. `--yes` by itself selects no coding agents; `--no-agents` explicitly skips skill installation. Choosing `--ai none` affects the app's AI configuration, but selected coding agents still receive the complete skill.

### Project paths and pointers

The app installer copies the bundled skill to these project-relative directories and writes the corresponding instruction files:

| Coding agent | `--agents` target | Skill directory | Instruction file |
| - | - | - | - |
| Claude Code | `claude` | `.claude/skills/frogbot/` | `CLAUDE.md` |
| Codex | `codex` | `.agents/skills/frogbot/` | `AGENTS.md` |
| Cursor | `cursor` | `.agents/skills/frogbot/` | `AGENTS.md` |
| opencode | `opencode` | `.agents/skills/frogbot/` | `AGENTS.md` |
| GitHub Copilot | `copilot` | `.agents/skills/frogbot/` | `.github/copilot-instructions.md` |
| Gemini CLI | `gemini` | `.agents/skills/frogbot/` | `GEMINI.md` |

Each instruction file points to `SKILL.md` and its `reference/` directory. Agents using `.agents/skills/frogbot/` share one copy; Codex, Cursor, and opencode also share one `AGENTS.md`. Selecting Claude Code as well creates a separate complete copy under `.claude/skills/frogbot/`.

These target names belong to `create-frogbot-app`. The skills CLI uses `--agent` with its own identifiers, including `claude-code`, `github-copilot`, and `gemini-cli`.

If a build of the app installer has no bundled skill, it prints the GitHub installation command and skips the instruction files that would point to missing content.

## What the skill covers

Start with `SKILL.md`; its task routing table directs your agent to the relevant reference.

| Area | Topics |
| - | - |
| Data and APIs | Collections, fields, field type guards, queries, endpoints, and database, storage, and email adapters |
| Application behavior | Hooks, access control, authentication, admin customization, preview, localization, and plugin development |
| AI applications | Agents, tools, providers, chat UI, pieces, and connections |
| Services and integrations | Jobs, KV, MCP, gateway configuration, roles, API keys, and typed environment variables |

The entry also covers generated types, request and transaction context, access-control defaults, and hook-loop prevention.

## Use the hosted entry

For an HTTP-based installation, use the documentation site as the source:

```bash theme={"theme":"tokyo-night"}
npx skills add https://docs.frogbot.ai
```

Select `frogbot` from discovery. Hosted installation provides **only `SKILL.md`**. It does not download the 23 reference files. When a local reference is unavailable, the agent can fetch its explicit raw GitHub fallback from the entry's final reference index. For example:

```text theme={"theme":"tokyo-night"}
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/frogbotai/frogbot/main/skills/frogbot/reference/COLLECTIONS.md
```

Prefer local references when present. Raw fallbacks follow `main` and may describe APIs newer than your installed FrogBot package. GitHub and plugin installs from the default branch are also unpinned content; version metadata is an update signal, not a commit pin or a guarantee of compatibility with your app. Check your installed package's exports and types when applying examples.

### opencode configuration

Merge this setting into your project's `opencode.json` to discover the hosted entry:

```json theme={"theme":"tokyo-night"}
{
  "skills": {
    "urls": ["https://docs.frogbot.ai/.well-known/skills"]
  }
}
```

This uses the legacy discovery index. opencode requests `index.json` from that base, then each advertised file, including the exact uppercase `frogbot/SKILL.md` path.

opencode can reuse a cached entry when the discovery index omits a version. Changing the version inside `SKILL.md` does not force a refresh. To fetch a fresh entry, remove the cached `skills/frogbot` directory from opencode's cache and start a new session. For a local installation, update the skill through the installer you used.

### Discovery endpoints

For agent-skills v0.2 discovery, read the index and follow the `frogbot` entry's advertised `url`. Its `digest` supplies SHA-256 content integrity information:

```text theme={"theme":"tokyo-night"}
https://docs.frogbot.ai/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json
```

For legacy discovery, the index lists `files: ["SKILL.md"]`. The file URL below is the case-sensitive request used by opencode:

```text theme={"theme":"tokyo-night"}
https://docs.frogbot.ai/.well-known/skills/index.json
https://docs.frogbot.ai/.well-known/skills/frogbot/SKILL.md
```

Both formats describe the hosted entry only. Use GitHub or the Claude Code plugin for the complete local reference directory.

## Documentation index

Give your agent this URL to find documentation pages and their descriptions:

```text theme={"theme":"tokyo-night"}
https://docs.frogbot.ai/llms.txt
```

The index helps the agent choose relevant pages to read; it does not install the skill or its references.
