Your coding agent checks your computer, creates the app with the FrogBot skill, and starts it.
What the agent does
- Checks that Node.js 24.21 or newer is installed, and sends you to the download page if it is not.
- Asks which AI provider key you have: OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google. If you have none, it sends you to create an OpenAI key.
- Creates the app in a
my-frogbotfolder withcreate-frogbot-app, which also installs the FrogBot skill for that agent. If the folder already exists, it asks you for another name. - Reads the FrogBot skill, so it knows how FrogBot apps work before it changes anything.
- Asks how you want to add your AI key. The key goes in the
.envfile inside the app folder, which the app’s.gitignorekeeps out of Git.create-frogbot-appdoes not copy a key that is already set in the agent’s environment, so this step is still needed. - Starts the app with
npm run dev. If it cannot keep the app running, it tells you how to start it yourself. - Tells you to open http://localhost:3000 and create your admin account. You then open Chats in the sidebar and select Create New to send your first message.
What your agent will ask you
Most coding agents ask before they run a command, use the internet, or keep a program running. Expect requests to:- Run
node --version,npx create-frogbot-app@latest, andnpm run dev. - Download packages from the internet while the app is created.
- Keep the development server running in the background.
Which agent value to use
The prompt tells the agent to pick its own value for--agents. This table shows what each one installs:
If the skill is missing, the prompt tells the agent to install it from GitHub with
npx skills add frogbotai/frogbot --skill frogbot --yes. See Coding agents for every way to install the skill.
